Welcome to the Pighouse Flicks Lounge Cinema. For your comfort and pleasure we are proud to bring you the ultimate in cinema technology and locally designed, created and installed custom seating, with FULL and EASY access for WHEELCHAIRS to both the cinema and the restaurant.
Since 1995 the Pighouse Flicks has been providing the Byron Shire with a venue for international, blockbuster and art-house films, film festivals, private events and probably lots more stuff we don’t even know about!!!. Since having taken over the cinema from the almost too charming and much missed Dave Patman in April 2011, we have undertaken a complete renovation of the audio visual display equipment and the Theatre interior.
We have installed the latest Hypacoustic 5.1 surround sound system married to a state-of-the-art Christie DCI Projector.
Custom Theatre lighting compliments the new lounge seating and luxurious carpet. We have kept the popular row of lay down seating in the front and have optimised eye levels to the screen in all the seating rows. Local designer Bret Madden was a key player in the design, construction and installation of the seating and lighting and the results are way above our expectations. Seating allocation is around the ninety mark.
The cinema is located in the Byron Bay Brewery /Nomads backpackers complex at the Old Piggery in Skinner’s Shoot Road Byron Bay. The Theatre is available for hire for private parties and presentations or film festivals. See the Venue Hire page for more details. Our commitment to screening quality films at a reasonable price remains strong. We believe that the art-house, foreign and classic films we screen reflect the vitality of the enthusiastic cinema going population of the Byron shire. It also seems important that Byron has an excellent locally and family run alternative to corporate film outlets. We invite you to experience a fresh take on an iconic piece of Byron history.
